Admittedly it's a tad worrisome wondering what the heck I've gotten myself into travelling to India on the heels of the Commonwealth Games debacle, terrorist threats, history-making monsoons and the likes. I'm just trying to keep an open mind, mentally steeling myself for complete and utter chaos. In the midst of it all I can appreciate why meditation is going to be such an important part of these travels.

I've been voraciously consuming anything and everything India or Buddhist oriented. Watched two magical documentaries last week: "The Wheel" and "Unmistaken Child". This morning I stumbled across a CBC blogger's accounts as she weaves her way through parts of the country en route to the Games. To quote a line on her arrival to Mumbai: "Drunk with sleep, I stumbled out of the airport and let the mosquitos have their first taste." Yikes. After travels to Peru I didn't really want to be taking an anti-malarial and said as much to the travel clinic nurse. But good old GP Brendan insisted otherwise. And in view of the reported outbreak of Denegue (sp) fever in Delhi, I suppose it's a good thing after all.

Well, incense is wafting here in the office; such a calming element. Twenty-two sleeps til departure...

Monday September 20, 2010

The guest bedroom/office is mounding up with stuff. Yeesh I could use a piece of luggage just for the meds and toiletries. Not taking much in the way of clothing: two skirts, a dress, leggings, a pair of lightweight pants maybe, a black tank and three huge-to-the-knee shirts. That's about it.

Okay, ok, I know it's still more than a month until I leave for India, but today was India-focused. Spent a good hour+ at the travel clinic. Hep A & Hep B...good to go from shots pre and post Peru. Ditto Typhoid and Yellow Fever. Took it in the arm for H1N1 and polio. Grabbed a liquid dose of Dukoral for e coli. Need to get some Immodium for Delhi belly. Picked up a mosquito net for whatever bed I find myself in. Nicely equipped with a travel pillow and towel compliments of K&C. Now to arrange for travel insurance...
